The SCAD School of Digital Media presents a juried student show of comedy, drama and Web series excerpts from the SCAD television production undergraduate and the film and television production graduate and undergraduate programs. Work features industry projects and collaborations with individuals from the performing arts program.

The showcase will be followed by a Q-and-A session with select student filmmakers.

Class Divide highlights the recent effects of hypergentrification in New York City’s West Chelsea neighborhood, focusing on an intersection where an elite private school sits directly across the street from public housing projects. The final film in a trilogy about economic forces affecting ordinary people from director Marc Levin and producing partner Daphne Pinkerson (HBO’s Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags and Hard Times: Lost on Long Island), the movie bears witness to the effects of rising inequality and stagnant class mobility.

Mavis! chronicles the ascension of gospel and soul music legend and civil rights icon Mavis Staples and her family group, The Staple Singers. An intimate look at a tight-knit family, the film reveals their struggles and success, featuring dynamic live performances and rarely seen archival footage, as well as interviews with Bob Dylan, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy and Chuck D.

At 76, she's making the most vital music of her career, winning Grammy awards and reaching a new generation of fans with her message of love and equality.

"Packed in a Trunk" uncovers the trail of lesbian artist Edith Lake Wilkinson, who was committed to an asylum in 1925 and never heard from again. All of her worldly possessions were packed into trunks and shipped to a relative in West Virginia, where they sat in an attic for 40 years. Edith's great-niece, Emmy Award-winning writer and director Jane Anderson, grew up surrounded by Edith's paintings, thanks to her mother who had gone poking through that dusty attic and rescued Edith's sophisticated, light-filled canvasses.
