About Michael Patrick King
Born in Scranton, Pa., Michael Patrick King moved to New York City at age 20, where he spent years waiting tables while developing his voice as a playwright and stand-up comic. He began his television career on Murphy Brown during its landmark Dan Quayle season, later working on Will & Grace and executive producing the first season of HBO’s Sex and the City. King went on to serve as showrunner for Sex and the City for five seasons and executive produced and directed both feature films. King has also co-created The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow, which evolved from an early cancellation into a celebrated cult classic; the hit CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls; and the Netflix comedy AJ and the Queen with RuPaul. King most recently served as showrunner on HBO Max’s And Just Like That. He is currently completing the third and final season of The Comeback, set to air in March 2026.
